My passion for photography comes as no surprise and my goal is to show that passion in my images.
My father (Jesse) was a member of the Chicago Artist Guild in the 1940’s and the “Artist in the blood” talent line has proven true!
Having competed in and winning art competitions in grade school, My artistic tendencies showed up again in my sophomore year of high school. My watercolor of a “Foggy Forest” won 2nd place in the National Hallmark Show for high school aged artists.
While in college at the University of Florida, I studied biological illustration, allowing me to expand my passion for art, using 9 different media during this study. Scratchboard, pen and ink, pencil, pastels and other media were used.
My professional life centered around being president of a multi-million dollar graphics company. With clients in every state and 7 foreign countries. I was involved with the production of commercial art, but the love for creative art wasn’t being fulfilled.
In 1997, I discovered the camera and photography. I participated in a 5 day photography workshop in Michigan. The intense immersion into the atmosphere of real photography proved very valuable. After the workshop, I entered one of my images from the workshop in a regional photo contest where I was awarded “Best of Show”.
After winning many more contests, I entered the American River’s Foundation “Busch Blue Waters” contest where my image of the Silver River in Florida won my first 1st Place National Photography award.
My first visit to the Grand Canyon was in 1997. After the first view of the Canyon, I was smitten by the beauty and grandeur of the landscape and totally hooked!
Returning year after year to one of “The Seven Wonders of the World”, I knew that moving to the region and share my passion for the beauty and total experience of the Grand Canyon was just a matter of time.
Workshop Leader, Instructor and Guide –
In addition to sharing images of my photography of the Southwest, my wife (Lori) and I now own and operate Canyon Country Tours, where we take guests on day tours and photography day tours and workshops to the Grand Canyon.
My images sell as fine art and limited edition collectable prints which are in collections throughout the USA. Additionally, I lead photography tours and workshops throughout the USA, including the Smoky Mountain area of Tennessee and North Carolina, Zion and Bryce National Parks, Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks and many other iconic and also lesser known beautiful destinations.
“My goal is to share the beauty in nature that God has made for us to enjoy” I hope to help others find the same happiness that I have found – Glenn Tamblingson
