Mark Vranesh
Mixed Media Painting
Mark Vranesh began painting in 1975 while studying law in San Diego. After graduating from law school, he opened his first gallery in Coronado. With exhibits throughout California and the western states, his work has been collected worldwide.
Returning to his home town of Las Vegas in the 80’s, Mark’s art took on a southwest theme, mainly rock art imagery and southwest landscapes. As the native son and resident artist of Red Rock Canyon, he received the governor’s “Nevada’s Best” award as well as his famous moment on QVC, selling more than 400 of his petroglyph gourd vessels in 7 minutes.
His many travels have enriched his art. Remembering a painting trip to a quaint Mexican village early in his career, he returned to San Miguel de Allende. Living for 10 years in this historic colonial artist colony changed his art and life.
Influenced by his love for the southwest, Vranesh combines his impressionist style of painting with mixed media techniques. Now spending most of his time in northern Arizona, he can be found painting the red rocks of Sedona and inspired by the historic towns along the old Route 66.
