Artist Bio

Intrigued by nature and imagination, artist Bonnie Heaton Dent’s watercolors, acrylics and pastels are known for sparkling color. Her versatile interests include still lifes, florals, railway, fantasy and en plein aire landscapes.
ART COMMISSIONS: Here are a few possibilities:
Commemorate your antiques, cut glass, old toys, or a special collection in a still life painting by Bonnie.
OR She would enjoy painting a picture of your home or garden.
OR Gather a group of special mementoes from a loved one’s life, and Bonnie will create a unique still life featuring them.
For any other commissioned work, discuss your idea with the artist.

1998 Beijing, China: Delegate to United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women and US/China Joint Conference on Women’s Issues. Member of a team of 34 educators from the US sent to China to verify education of girls.
2000 Coconino County Teacher of the Year, Small and Rural Schools; finalist for Arizona Teacher of the Year.
2000 Japan: Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholar in Kushiro City, Hokkaido, studying the teaching of folk arts in schools, museums and civic centers.
2001 Chicago Art Institute: Full scholarship for TICA (Teacher Workshop in Contemporary Art)
2006 Arizona Governor’s Award for Arts in Education (one given per year).
2009 “Passages- the Watercolors of Bonnie Heaton Dent” one woman show, 30 paintings, displayed at Brandy’s, Flagstaff, AZ
