Artist Bio

Maker of Fun Jewelry
I describe my work as slices of color. I use polymer clay as three-dimensional paint to express my love of color, pattern and form. My palette ranges from soft, subtle blends to vibrant metallic tones.
My work has a sense of whimsy and frivolity with just a hint of order and geometry. Pieces are composed of sculpted, draped and hand-formed bits of clay creating jewelry ranging from delicate pendants to flamboyant neck pieces. I am best known in the world of polymer clay for creating the technique of smooth color gradation – the “Skinner Blend”.
In an earlier life I was a computer software engineer with bankers, city planners, firefighters, police officers, TV meteorologists and aerospace engineers as customers. I later combined artistry and technology in multimedia design and production. When I discovered polymer clay in 1995 I reversed my priorities and now use my problem solving skills to enhance my artistry.
