Artist Bio

My Husband and I moved from my native country of Japan to The United States in 1967. Because of the difficulties people had in pronouncing, “Tatsue”, my first name, I chose the nickname of “Tommie”. This is the name most people use.
I have been interested in art most of my life. The task of being a mother of two children and working did not leave much time to pursue my interests in art. I did manage to get some courses at our local collage in the study of becoming a silversmith and still enjoy making sterling silver jewelry.
I retired in 2007and moved too Chino Valley. I now can devote much more time to my art studies. I have taken painting courses in oil, acrylic, watercolor and color pencil at Yavapai collage. I enjoy working with pastel media.
I have frequently participated in local art workshops and find them very beneficial in learning new techniques.
